Reviews
I initially purchased your Marketing Guide for Financial Advisors book a few months ago for my daughter, Allison, who is in charge of marketing for our firm. She had plenty of positive comments about the book, so I asked her to let me read it. I just finished it yesterday.
And, I have to be honest, I think calling it a “Marketing Guide” is not doing justice to the remarkable job that you did in putting it together. It may very well be the best single BOOK on our industry that I have ever read, irrespective of the topic! And, I have been doing this since the early 1980’s! In fact, I believe it is just as much about Practice Management as it is about marketing. I just went to Amazon and purchased two more copies…one for me to keep, and one for my Associate Advisor, Renee, who will succeed me here one of these days (hopefully not too soon!!).
I really do believe that you have a unique gift when it comes to ascertaining and explaining the things that advisors need to focus on in order to be more successful. So…great job!!!

As I was reading this book, I realized that my team and I needed to go through it together—to enhance what we were doing right and fix what we were doing wrong. We’ve been holding weekly meetings to discuss parts of the book until with finish the entire thing.
One thing that makes this book great is that its not just theory. The author seems to have been working with advisors for a long time and presents some very helpful examples.

I tell my coaching clients that their and their team’s top 5 jobs are:
- Relationship management with your clients, i.e., delivering on your Client Service Promise
- Growing your business at your desired rate
- Management oversight of your team and their work product
- Portfolio management (whether or not outsourced)
- Ensuring messes are cleaned up quickly
This book focuses on the “Growing your business” part with the focus on digital marketing. It does that better than any book or manual I have seen. While it tells you many of the how’s, it’s really telling you of the what’s and why’s of digital marketing. I actually do not think you as an FA really want to know the how to’s because that’s not one of your top 5 jobs, rather it’s your job to hire the right talent to get the job done that the author describes, so your practice brings prospects to your door that you can convert to clients. As such, this book is a complete and outstanding job description of the person your team needs to hire to execute the author’s digital strategy whether that’s an employee or an outsourced service which by the way, is what the author’s firm also does exceedingly well.
Even if you understand the words like Yoast SEO plugin, Google Analytics, boosting your posts, Facebook pixels, title tags, meta descriptions, how to optimize for search engines, etc., most, if not all, FAs I have met don’t want to know this stuff even though it is critical to have it as part of their digital marketing growth strategy. So, Claire’s book tells you what skills your hire or outsource firm needs in exquisite detail with very specific recommendations and pragmatic tips and approaches that most authors are reluctant to provide as clearly as Claire provides them. This is real world advice and pulls no punches.
If you want to know what you need to do to get a great digital strategy, Claire tells you exactly that. Your digital strategy must keep you “top of mind” with clients and prospects through content, the right technology, powerful websites, outstanding email campaigns, well designed social media campaigns using LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter as well as a foundational marketing tool, Webinars with all the details you need for success. As I said however, this is a book that is in essence a detailed description of the person or firm you as an FA must have to incorporate a high performance 21st Century digital marketing presence into your practice.
On top of it all, Claire shows a sincere and genuine trust and respect for FAs that supports the value she brings to her clients. This is not only a must read for financial advisory practices, it is a must do.
